Hi, I’m April Galligan, owner and therapist at UpliftME Attachment-Based Therapy. I enjoy gardening and sharing the bounty earned each year, even if it means pulling Japanese beetles off of every single leaf to protect my plants. I love to read and am a huge Denver sports fan. My morning runs are protected time and hanging out with my neighbors is the best way to decompress.

I love working with young children and their parents or caregivers. I found myself drawn to the early childhood population after working with adolescents for six years and recognizing that many of the challenges actually started within the family years and years before they got to me. I knew that if I wanted to help these adolescent kids and their parents, I needed to help them much earlier in their lives.

I have specialized in providing attachment-based therapy to young children after my own childhood full of difficult relationships and wondering where I fit in the world. My work with early childhood trauma has been highlighted by my own experiences as a parent with a child who was born with a life-long medical and physical disability. As I watch my daughter grow and experience life, it is always tempered by her limitations and how the world will ultimately accept her and her differences. My family is my foundation and drives my practice and devotion to helping others.

I received my BS in psychology and sociology at Colorado State University and my MSW at the University of Denver. I have been a home-based family therapist and an early childhood mental health consultant in childcare, school, and pediatric medical settings in addition to community- based therapy and private practice. I have provided reflective supervision and clinical supervision to other mental health professionals and early childhood teachers. Most importantly, I really enjoy working with kids and parents and can’t imagine doing anything else!
